Artisan-built Furniture
oshua first apprenticed with a furniture-maker in the early 1980s, and was greatly influenced by a style of work that we now call Eastern Shaker.
Like the Shaker craftsman before him, Joshua sources hardwoods from his local region and uses the time-honored joinery of mortise and tenon. Unlike the Shakers before him, Joshua uses modern finishes so these fine pieces can withstand the rigors of everyday living and still look great for generations.
Most of the pieces shown here are available for purchase through regional galleries, or can be built on commission. In most cases, dimensions can be adjusted to suit a particular space. Joshua can also work with you to design and build a totally custom piece of furniture.
